Unfortunately, accidents occur and when they do there are many different steps and actions that begin. The last part is the settlement phase and has three steps.
STEP ONE: The office personnel will be managing the medical, property, cargo and liability claims that are on-going in accident cases. This may involve more than one person, as office personnel may be responsible for different areas of the claim. This may take meetings, calls or other meetings to ensure that everyone has the proper information and are communicating with the insurance company(ies).
STEP TWO: If the legal team is needed, the office will be prepared to work with legal to ensure that any issues are handled in a timely manner and all information is handed over.
STEP THREE: Ensuring that the driver and equipment are prepared to head back to work. The driver may be able to go back to the tractor they were previously driving, otherwise they will need to move into a new truck (when available). There may be additional training that the driver needs to feel comfortable driving or may need to learn the technology in a different truck if they are not getting back into their previous equipment.
The settlement phase is the last one that happens and most times is mainly for the office personnel to handle, the driver is not as involved in this section of the accident aftermath. Hopefully, accidents are few or non-existent which will make the business and driving as safe as possible.
